John Lamkin
John Lamkin is a freelance travel journalist and photographer based in Taos, New Mexico USA. He also lives part-time in Oaxaca & Quintana Roo, Mexico.
He was educated at Orange Coast College, the University of California at Los Angeles and the San Francisco Art Institute. He holds a Bachelors degree from Pacific States University.
John has also done copy writing, technical writing, and poetry.
He has been editor of Camerawork Quarterly, Music of the Spheres magazine and several newsletters.
He is owner of Paloma Blanca Press, a self-publishing consulting firm, and the editor of Soul of Travel online magazine.
John is readily available for assignment (commission) worldwide.
He is a member of the North American Travel Journalists Assn. (NATJA); the International Travel Writers Alliance (ITWA); the International Society for Travel Writing (ISTW); International Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association (IFWTWA) where he is a Board Member and Global Membership Chair; MediaBistro.com's AvantGuild; and Travelwriters.com.
In addition to his freelance work, John is a contributing writer for Suite101, LuxuryLatinAmerica, Luxury Avenue Magazine, Examiner.com, Reuters America and a columnist for The Syndicated News.
He speaks Spanish fluently.
